Photo travels Ruhr district in Germany

A weekend phototrip to the 'Metropole/industrial area Ruhrgebiet in Germany, guided by photographer Leo van der Kleij, date 8 and 9 September 2018

We will visit some visual highlights in the impressive Ruhrgebiet in Germany.

Saturday morning at 11 A.M we will head for Landschaftspark Duisburg-Nord, a former steelworks which is partly used as park/leisure zone, and where industrial buildings slowly change into ruins. After lunch we will visit the Duisburg Port, where old and new Duisburg come together; avantgarde architecture by Foster and Herzog/de Meuron next to silos, terraces along the waterside and new developed housingprojects. Via the Gasometer ( a huge former gasholder with a brilliant skyview on the area) in Oberhausen and -when there's time left- the former coalmine living quarter Eisenheim we will arrive in Bochum for dinner. After dinner we visit the Bochumer Bermuda Dreieck, a fashionable leisure quarter with bars and restaurants.

Sunday 10 A.M we'll go for Dortmund, to visit Zeche Zollern, a jugendstil coalmine building and terrain. If there's time left we drop by Dortmunder U, a former brewery in the center of Dortmund, now a cultural center and museum. We finish the weekend with a visit to Zeche Zollverein in Essen, the most famous complex in the Ruhrgebiet which is listed a Unesco Heritage Site; Museums, old industrial buildings, new architecture and an interesting landscape, it's all there.

During the days Leo will give tips about shooting, also the program can be slightly adapted to the wishes of the participants, e.g. With focus on shooting industrial zones, or modern architecture or living quarters and social life.
