Photo trip to Fez Morocco, 29 May untill 2 June 2019, Wednesday until Sunday. 5 days.
Fez, the ancient walled city often regarded as the Mecca of the West has lived through history as Morocco’s spiritual, religious and educational center for centuries. Fez is a city of stories, and those stories are not only in those tanned bricks, deteriorated wood works or psychedelic tile works, but also in its people. Great place for photography.
Wednesday we arrive at Fez in the afternoon, after a visit in the Medina we have a nice dinner in a beautiful place. After the dinner we visit two locations for night photography, one with a view point and one in the Medina with the tiny lights.
Thursday morning a historical guide Hakim will show us all the special and beautiful places in the Medina of Fez and tell us the story's of the past. In the afternoon we visit Meknes.
Friday we make a trip with a taxi to the Archaeological Site of Volubilis, this site is on the list of world heritage of Unesco. Here we have a portrait workshop and you can wander around. After lunch we go to the little village Moulay Idriss Zerhoun, this village is beautiful located on a hill with its pittoresque houses. It is great to wander around with your photo camera. Around sunset we explore Meknes, the ancient stable, medina and square.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moulay_Idriss_Zerhoun In the evening we will relax with a Sunset Concert at cafe Clock.
Saturday Omar Chennafi will give us a workshop streetphotography, the Medina is a great place for street photography with its little streets and picturesque buildings. We will visit an Artisan Center and a traditional School.
Sunday is our last day to shop, visit museum with beautiful garden and enjoy the atmosphere in the Medina. Sunday afternoon we fly to the Netherlands
Photographer Omar Chennafi lives in Fez, he knows the best spots for us. He will guide us around this area. Amongst the local community in Fez, Chennafi is well-known for many different roles he leaded. He has been many times the official photographer of the Sacred World Music Festival, coordinator of the ALC-ALIF Photography Club, commissioned by the Ministry of Tourism and other well know travel agency.
Barbara is there too, to give you interesting assignments, to teach you photo techniques. After the trip we meet in the studio in The Hague to show each other our work, we discuss and select the photos for an exhibition.
You can stay in the Riad (Comfortable traditional Moroccan house or palace with an interior garden) in the Medina. Feel free to choose one nearby.
