Photo travels Morocco Fez

Photo trip to Fez Morocco, 29 November- 3 December 2017, Wednesday until Sunday.

Fez, the ancient walled city often regarded as the Mecca of the West has lived through history as Morocco’s spiritual, religious and educational center for centuries. Fez is a city of stories, and those stories are not only in those tanned bricks, deteriorated wood works or psychedelic tile works, but also in its people. Great place for photography.

Wednesday we arrive at Fez in the afternoon, We have a nice dinner in a beautiful place. After that we visit two locations for night photography, one with a view point and one in the Medina with the tiny lights.

Thursday morning a historical guide Hakim will show us all the special and beautiful places in the Medina of Fez and tell us the story's of the past. In the afternoon Omar Chennafi will give us a workshop streetphotography, the Medina is a great place for street photography with its little streets and picturesque buildings. We will visit an Artisan Center and a traditional School.

Friday we make a trip with a taxi to the Archaeological Site of Volubilis, this site is on the list of world heritage of Unesco. Here we have a portrait workshop and you can wander around. After lunch we go to the little village Moulay Idriss Zerhoun, this village is beautiful located on a hill with its pittoresque houses. It is great to wander around with your photo camera. Around sunset we explore Meknes, the ancient stable, medina and square. In the evening we will relax with a Sunset Concert at cafe Clock.

Saturday is our last day to shop, visit museum with beautiful garden and enjoy the atmosphere in the Medina. Sunday morning we fly to the Netherlands

Photographer Omar Chennafi lives in Fez, he knows the best spots for us. He will guide us around this area. Amongst the local community in Fez, Chennafi is well-known for many different roles he leaded. He has been many times the official photographer of the Sacred World Music Festival, coordinator of the ALC-ALIF Photography Club, commissioned by the Ministry of Tourism and other well know travel agency and also worked for Time Magazine. As a young artist, Chennafi's works have also been displayed in a number of galleries in and outside of Morocco.

Barbara is there too, to give you interesting assignments, to teach you photo techniques. After the trip we meet in the studio in The Hague to show each other our work, we discuss and select the photos for an exhibition.

We stay in a Riad (Comfortable traditional Moroccan house or palace with an interior garden) in the Medina. We will stay in Riad Maison Maure

Price: The price is 324 euro per person and based on 2 people staying in a double room. If you want a room for yourself it is 385 euro. Included: Hotel with breakfast and transfers to and from the airport. Trip to Volubilis, Moulay Idress Zerhoun and Meknes with private taxi. Workshops: night photography, portrait, street, landscape photography during the trip and after the trip: two portfolio review lessons and a exhibition in the studio.

Excluded: flight, print cost for exhibition. Maybe some nationalities need a visa.

Ryan air has cheap flights, about 30 to 40 Euro per flight. The sooner you book, the cheaper they are.

If you join us in the train, Hollands spoor to Eindhoven airport, we leave Wednesday 5.23 in the morning in The Hague and we arrive Sunday afternoon at 15.15 in Eindhoven. If you go by car to Eindhoven it is faster.
